Cellmefree launches high-end smartphones refurbishing program

Cellmefree is a new comparative website for savvy smartphones users who don’t want to choose between price and quality. Recently followed by Gazelle, the site was the first to offer a Buy-&-Sell program where users can both buy professionally refurbished smartphones and sell their current handset on the same site. The process is fast and easy, they pick up the model they want to buy or sell and they instantly get quotes for their device.
Founded by two French entrepreneurs and based in Miami, the startup strives to offer the best deals coupled with a premium customer service.
Most of the products for sale are in good to excellent condition, as the site only offers high-quality devices. All the smartphones are professionally tested and refurbished by certified technicians.
They perform up to 30 tests and systematically run a full IMEI/ESN background check on each device.
«We only work with professional recyclers to provide a safe and easy way for customers to sell or buy used smartphones.» says Marc Thoumyre, Founder and CEO.
They are fully re-accessorized with USB cable, charger and earphones and come with a 30-day warranty return if customers are not 100% satisfied with their purchase.
Prices vary from $100 for an iPhone 4 to $580 for a flawless iPhone 6.
Selling a cell phone is also simple and fast: the seller picks up an offer, receives a prepaid shipping kit to send back the device and gets paid in cash.
Buyback offers vary from $100 for an iPhone 4S to $350 for an iPhone 6.
Recommerce industry is bustling and there is an expanding market for used cell phones that may only be a few months old. Smartphone life cycles are getting shorter than ever: according to industry statistics, Americans replace their phones in average every 18 months.
With 60 to 70 new models launching every year, this aggressive upgrade cycle has reached a peak and becomes unsustainable both economically and environmentally. Cellmefree offers a second life to these devices and a great alternative for users who want to avoid paying them full price.
At this time, the company only operates in the United States. « The US market represents a great potential for our business due to the high rate of smartphone users of course, along with the recent expansion of contract-free wireless plans lead by carriers like T-Mobile or Cricket. They lower the communications cost but do not provide any handsets. Buying a pre-owned cell phone is the perfect bundle for users who need to upgrade their devices frequently without being trapped with a 2-year contract plan.» he adds.
Inspired by European mobile market where consumers rarely buy their phones from their carriers, the site consequently provides a wide range of unlocked phones, as well as devices working on all major carriers.

Cellmefree Steps Into The Smartphone Swap & Switch Game

Cellmefree is the first comparison website where consumers can both buy and sell used devices and finally break free from the grip of cell phone carriers.

Cellmefree announces today the launch of its innovative comparison website helping consumers finding the best deal to buy or sell their cell phone or tablet.
By offering a Buy-&-Sell program, Cellmefree allows users both selling their used device and buying a refurbished one on the same website. Upgrading for the latest smartphones becomes now easy and affordable.
Beyond providing cheaper access to technology, our goal is to promote a virtuous way to consume where your unused items can find a second life” says Marc Thoumyre, Cellmefree founder and CEO.
Unlike P2P marketplaces, Cellmefree works with a network of professional recyclers and partners to provide high quality refurbished devices: all are rigorously tested and come with a warranty return period.
Selling devices is also a hassle-free process: users can pick the best offer from trusted and professional buyers and get paid in cash. For example, the cost for an iPhone 5S 16GB after trading pre-owned iPhone 4S 16GB can be as low as $250. “Our ambition is to become the US first second-hand marketplace for cell phones by offering users premium customer service, safe transactions and competitive prices” adds Marc Thoumyre.

Unlocking cell phones is now legal: on Friday August 1st 2014, President Barack Obama signed into law the Unlocking Consumer Choice and Wireless Competition Act, allowing millions of Americans to unlock their cell phones in order to use a different network carrier.
Bringing more flexibility and choice to users, they will now be able to switch for a carrier that best matches their needs and their budget.
Moving in the footstep of this new law, Cellmefree aims to help users find the best offer for their devices.

Recommerce industry is booming, as consumers are more aware than ever that selling their used devices get them value to purchase new ones. With always new products launching, staying up-to-date becomes expensive.
Trade-in to trade-up is now the best option to keep up with the latest technologies in fast-moving sectors as electronics.
Sell, trade, recycle, these options to get rid of unused devices are not only a way to get quick cash. It is also an environmentally and socially responsible act, helping saving energy and keeping a high number of toxic materials out of the waste stream.
